“Nature’s own” growing media is unique, as it is based on Moorland Gold – the naturally derived peat.  As this is rich in naturally occurring minerals and trace elements, the growing media encourages strong and healthy balanced growth, with reduced need for additional feeding. The resulting plants and fruits will be free from artificial fertilisers and will taste as nature intended.

We manufacture organic “Nature’s Own” growing media to cover all stages of your organic plant’s growth as follows:

  • Seed and Cutting
  • Potting and Container
  • Module
  • Blocking
  • Leek and Onion
  • Tomato
  • Organic Potting and Container (vegan friendly)
  • Moorland Gold
  • Grow-Bigs.

All our growing media can be used on certified organic crops with the consent of your certification body.

The growing media has been tested and the pH is 6.5 to 7.0 which is ideal for the growth of most plants. None of our products contain green waste.

Our fully certified organic potting and container growing media is now vegan friendly.

Growing Media for Plant Raising

Seed and Cutting
For use in seed trays, very low conductivity for the most tender of seeds or cuttings. This growing media can be used for low nutrient requirement herb culture. Lime free version can be tailor made.

Module

Used extensively through nearly 200 nurseries nationwide, this propagation media represents the very best in Organic media. Low in conductivity yet contains an adequate supply of Organic nutrients. Many of our customers report that supplementary feeding is seldom required (subject to optimum module cell size).

Leek and Onion

Containing all the necessary nutrients for strong and extended life in the module with increased AFP to avoid packing. This growing media can be used for all plant types but is manufactured for optimum leek and onion propagation.

Blocking
Blocking compost is designed for use in raised blocks. This method is gaining popularity in Organic nurseries due to the fact that no bare rooting takes place. This compost has a high AFP control, ensuring strong root development after formation of the block.

Sterilised growing media

All our growing media is now available sterilised.  Though we offer this service, the sterilisation of our growing media is against our ethics of producing an environmentally friendly product due to the energy used which creates a carbon footprint.  In addition, the process of sterilisation can damage beneficial soil micro-organisms present reducing the efficacy of our growing media.  It may also result in the requirement for more additional feeding in the later stages of plant growth.  If it is a necessity that your growing media is sterilised, please contact us for more information and prices.

Growing Media for Potting and Container

Potting and Container
Containing all the elements for strong healthy root growth, this represents the very best in potting growing medium. With added perlite and naturally occurring micro elements and minerals, it results in a good workable medium giving excellent holding qualities to all plant types. Also available as Organic Potting and Container, conforming to Soil Association standards 2.05-2.06 and contains no animal products hence vegan friendly.

Tomato
Containing all the elements as our standard potting and container growing medium, but with extra nutrients to feed those hungry tomato plants, therefore resulting in excellent growth. Tomatoes grown in this growing media won the award for best tasting tomato at the WYOG annual event.

Moorland Gold
The base from which all our growing media is produced. Moorland Gold is derived from a unique process of Pennine water filtration, which removes particles of leaf mould, sphagnum, grits and other composted leaf matter. The result is a rich, black and easily managed product that has a variety of uses from simple soil conditioner to more specialised uses when mixed with varying degrees of organic fertilisers and conditioners.

Moorland Gold has a starting pH of around 5.0 and a conductivity reading of 0.7 micro-siemens. Moorland Gold contains no green waste

Grow-Bigs

Tried and tested for over 15 years. Our organic Grow-Bigs are used and sold nationally. Capable of holding three plants giving each plant approximately 10 litres of quality growing media.
